The 15th IEEE International Symposium on Mixed and Augmented Reality – ISMAR2016 has been held in Merida, Mexico. Two projects were accepted as demonstration installation.
Participatory Mixed Reality Space: Collective Memories
This project focused on creating a participatory mixed reality space, situated in social contexts in urban smart cities. This explores audiences’ social interactions and experiences with tactile engagements from their mobile phones. Utilizing NodeJS, Websockets-to-OSC and TouchDesigner integrated the computer projection mapping technique supports the participatory mixed reality space. A framework is also developed from the concepts of viewer as co-creator, interactive system as facilitator and motivation as creating a sense of belonging. This study focuses on discussion about cutting-edge communication technologies, challenges and motivations to create aesthetic and engaging expressions through activated participation within the mixed reality environment.

deBallution – Interactive Artwork by Throwing Pseudo Balls Based on Cultural Heritages
The interactive artwork “deBallution” is to catch audience members’ throwing movements on a virtual screen and drawing various generated kaleidoscope images to predict points from the audience throwing on the screen. Audience members threw the pseudo-balls for large-size screen and caused symbolic digital revolution, devolution.
